Kyiv celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Olympics.

On may 24-25, Kyiv will celebrate the centenary of the Olympic Kiev and Foundation of the Kiev Olympic Committee. The organizers of the celebrations are the national Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the Kyiv city state administration.

Kyiv has always been the gem of the cultural and educational life of Eastern Europe. Therefore, the main sensation of the city life of a hundred years ago was the all-Russian exhibition, which was held for several months 1913 in the region of the NSC «Olympic».
It was at this time in the city took place And Russian Olympiad, the organization of which was created the Kiev Olympic Committee.

The organizers are actively preparing for the celebration of 100 anniversary of this great event.
The program provides for various activities. This and the conducting of International conference «Olympic sport: history and modernity», opening of the Olympic exposure, and much more interesting.

As part of the commemoration of the century will be one of the most preferred shares of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine — Olympic day.

The first Russian Olympics was held from 20 to 24 August 1913.
Competitions were held in 11 sports: athletics, gymnastics, fencing, wrestling, weightlifting, shooting, swimming, Bicycle racing, lawn tennis, football.

600 participants represented 21 cities, namely: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Warsaw, Riga, Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa, Kamenets-Podolsky, Chernigov, Mogilev, Lutsk, Novorossiysk, Sevastopol, Rostov, Ekaterinoslav, Kursk, Samara, Tiraspol, Rivne, Yuriev, Vindava.

In the end of competitions, at the first Russian Olympics, the most awards of different value was won by sportsmen of St. Petersburg, the second place occupied by the representatives of Ukraine, in particular athletes Kiev, the third — by the sportsmen from Moscow.
